Sports are beneficial for everyone's health and people with disabilities are no exception. Moreover, it provides these people additional benefits such as social integration, emotional and psychological help during rehabilitation, and so on. 
 
Therefore, the sports pedagogy undergraduate program in Cuenca organized the seminar "Sports from an inclusive perspective" from the 20th to the 24th of January.
The topics of the seminar were:
 
- The history of disabilities in Ecuador. Speaker: Sebastian Romero
 
- Inclusive physical education. Speaker: Narcisa Valverde
 
- Sports and disabilities. Speaker: Alejandro Cardenas
 
- Educational inclusion and diversity. Speaker: Maria de Lourdes Cedillo
 
- Management for inclusive activities. Speaker: Nelly Sarmiento
 
- Inclusive education with physiotherapy. Speaker: Maria Gracia Salgado
 
In addition, there were practical workshops on visual disability directed by Sebastián Romero. The management of curricular adaptations, with the participation of Nelly Paltín, Karina Espinoza and Carolina Estrada. The athlete, Darwin Castro, who won the gold medal in the 5,000 meters race at the Pan American Games in Lima-Peru in 2019, also participated and spoke about his disability and life experience.
 
Fernando Moscoso, vice president of the university's campus in Cuenca, thanked the speakers for their participation and congratulated attendees for their interest in learning more about the benefits of physical education in inclusion. 
 
Franklin Ramon, director of the sports pedagogy undergraduate program, stated that this is one of several seminars they have planned, which provide students up to date information on topics related to their field.
