The Inti Raymi celebration in universities

The Inti Raymi celebration at the university was celebrated with professors from Otavalo, Cotopaxi, Pichincha and Tungurahua, officials from Universidad Politecnica Salesiana (UPS) and Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Ecuador (PUCE), and attended by people from the university community through social networks.
The celebration started on June 21st at "El GIron" campus in Quito; there were flowers, fruits, kernels, which represent water, earth, fire and air. The purification rituals started with the support of Maria Sol Villagomez, vice president of our branch campus in Quito, and Patricia Carrera, vice president of PUCE.
Some weeks prior to the celebration, universities, public and private institutions held webinars, talks, contests, dance festivals, forums and others events in order to start the Inti Raymi celebration which represents interculturality through a spiritual sense of the Andean world transmitted through dance, happiness and solidarity.
At universities in Quito, this celebration was started by the professor and poet Ariruma Kowii at Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar in 2008. Then, Universidad Politecnica Salesiana, Escuela Politécnica Nacional, Pontificia Universidad Católica and other universities, as well as organizations from the La Floresta neighborhood. Year after year this celebration has grown and with it the commitment of each institution to strengthen the participation of its academic community in this important ancestral legacy.
"We are thankful and committed to continue working from academia in the construction and strengthening of interculturality in the country, we are grateful to nature and diversity," said Villagómez. Carrera thanked UPS for bringing riches of culture and ancestral knowledge to its campus.
The celebration was broadcast through Centro de Medios Virtuales Infinito Digital, from the communication undergraduate program in our branch in Quito and Facebook @ intiraymiuniversidades and @upsalesianaec
