The teaching body of the local development undergraduate program presented the webinar: "Analysis of the government's policies regarding unemployment and corruption". The aim was to have an opportunity to reflect on the country's current events and suggest ways to contribute to sustainable development from citizen participation.

The speakers were Homero Castanier Jaramillo, government representative; Diana Jacome Silva, communicator and expert in constitutional law; and Luis Tobar Pesantez, director of the economics undergraduate program in our branch campus in Cuenca. 

Fernando Moscoso, vice president of our branch campus in Cuenca, welcomed everyone to the webinar and congratulated the teaching body for organizing the event.

Homero Castanier stressed the vaccination plan that the Government is carrying out, which will allow the country's economic reactivation. He explained the strengthening of the legal framework and the resolution of the most urgent problems facing the newly established government.

Diana Jácome, spoke about the government's main offers, which after two months in office, has shown positive signs on issues such as vaccination, but on other issues such as economic reactivation and the fight against corruption, still has not show firm signs of work.

Luis Tobar, presented several statistics that demonstrated the difficult reality of the country in terms of unemployment, poverty, economic growth, tax evasion, etc., which were further aggravated by the pandemic and that show a complex outlook for the current government.

The speaker answered questions from the attendees, moderated by professor Paola Carrera. Finally, Blas Garzón Vera, coordinator of the Faculty of the Local Development and Director of the Master's degree in Cultural Management, thanked the speakers and said there will be future talks on related issues.
