The Salesian Foundation "Chicos de la Calle" presented its 2016 report

Father Fransisco Sanchez, inspector of Salesians in Ecuador, UPS officials and representatives of the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion attended the presentation of the 2016 report of the Salesian Foundation "Chicos de la Calle", which was held in "El Giron" campus in UPS's branch campus in Quito.

Professors, children, teenagers, parents, contributors and volunteers also attended this event. Since 1977 the foundation has worked in five cities around Ecuador with the following projects: Unidad Educativa San Patricio (UESPA), Talleres Escuela San Patricio (TESPA), Centro de acogida "Mi Caleta", Programa Acción Guambras, Escuela Deportiva GOLASO and Programa Finanzas Populares in Quito; Granja Don Bosco in Ambato, Centro Casa de jóvenes in Esmeraldas; Centro Comunitario Casa Don Bosco in Santo Domingo and Centro Casa Don Bosco de San Lorenzo in Esmeraldas. It has helped 2,581 children and adolescents and 1,790 families in risk. 

Financing is obtained through several means and institutions: 56% are national institutions, 25% are international; 11% of financing is obtained through leverage, 2% through contributions and donations and 6% from other income. UPS supports the following projects: UESPA, TESPA, GOLASO, Guambras and Mi Caleta.

Father Fransisco Sanchez said "this salesian project is in our hearts and it makes us live Don Bosco's proposal vividly by creating opportunities of equality, dignity and a labor network". The director of the foundation, Father Jose Ruiz, thanked everyone who works to make this foundation continue its work. "The economic support helps us fulfil the aim of the project which is to improve the quality of life of children and their families", he said
