The second edition of the Dual Training courses

Universidad Politécnica Salesiana, the Chamber of Industries and Productivity of Cuenca, the German Ecuadorian Chamber of Commerce and 15 local industries, inaugurated the second edition of the Dual Training courses in Industrial Mechanics and Industrial Electricity. 

In this edition, the program welcomes 25 students who will be in the course during 5 semesters based on a methodology that combines theoretical classes and work practicums which will be done in the participating companies.

Fr. Javier Herran, UPS President, explained how the participants will "work studying", with the aim that the companies will then hire the best students of the two programs.

Santiago Pinos, coordinator of the academic programs, encouraged the new students to study with determination and then introduced the teachers who will be responsible of teaching the different subjects.

Nelson Jara, general coordinator of the Dual Training programs, motivated the students from the beginning to work with dedication, and based on the knowledge and skills they are acquiring.

María José Pontón, representing the Ecuadorian - German Chamber, explained the process that is being applied in companies for the selection of students and their incorporation in the workplace. She highlighted the work being carried out by officials of the Chamber of Industries of Cuenca and the German Ecuadorian Chamber of Commerce in favor of Dual Training Programs.

The companies in Cuenca that are taking part of the programs are: Continental Tire Andina, Indurama, Alimentos Los Andes, Ecuamueble, Juan Álvarez, Plastiazuay, Vanderbilt, Tugald, Tampre, Pasamanería, Cartopel, Tecnoproducción, Sumin, Elecaustro and Rialto.

The first edition of these courses began in September 2015 and the participants (20 professionals in Electrical Technology and 19 in Mechanical Technology) are in their last semester. Most of the students in the first promotion are already working in the host companies
