The UPS Abya Yala Publishing House presented the book "Interculturalidad y Educación desde el Sur. Contextos, experiencias y voces"

The book "Interculturalidad y Educación desde el Sur

 

On November 24th, professors from the school of pedagogy, intercultural bilingual education and the education and interculturality research group attended the presentation of the book "Interculturalidad y Educación desde El Sur. Contextos, experiencias y voces" which was published by the Abya Yala UPS Publishing House.

The book contains eleven projects of Latin American researchers about interculturality and education, it is divided into three areas: the first is titled "intercultural perspectives and challenges" which is on decolonized pedagogies, interculturality and anthropological fundamentals. 

The second is about interculturality and higher education and it focuses on intercultural bilingual education, university education, demands and expectations of young people, policies and the acknowledgment of cultural diversity. Finally, the third area is about health in education, changes in social and intercultural transformation of boys and girls in the Colombian armed conflict.

 The book has the support of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLASCO), the International Center of Education Foundation (CINDE), Universidad de Manizales and Universidad Politécnica Salesiana.  

This event was attended by Jose Juncosa, vice president of the university's branch in Quito; Sebastian Granda director of the intercultural education major; Ariruma Kowi, director of the cultural studies area in Universidad  Andina Simon Bolivar; Julian Garcia and Maria Sol Villagomez, UPS professors; Luis Fernando Garcia, professor from the school of anthropology and history of Mexico, who participated via Skype.
