Since 2010, every December Colegio Aleman in Quito has held a choir festival titled "Choir Festival for Peace" which is attended by the best choir groups in the country in order to celebrate World Choral Day. In this year's festival, held on December 11th, the university's choir group from Quito was invited to perform.

There were about 300 singers from several institutions who took part in the festival. The participants were: Cámara de Comercio de Azogues, Universidad de las Fuerzas Armadas (ESPE), Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ), Fundación Teatro Bolívar, Universidad de las Américas (UDLA),  Fundación Colegio Americano de Quito, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE), Voces Cantantes de Quito (VCQ), Colegio Alemán and Universidad Politécnica Salesiana in Quito.

The UPS choir group is led by professro Karol Caicedo and is made up by the following students: Mónica Reátegui, Jhamine Rosas, Sebastián Guzmán, Dennis Ortiz, Richard Paucar, Damaris Constante, Karla Matehu, Daniela León, Renato Limaico, Diego Gaona, Gabriela Vanegas, María José Lamiña, Jazmín Palacios, José Chávez, Pablo Armas and David Tiuma.

Since August 1990, the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM) has proclaimed International Choral Day on the second Sunday of December. This activity must contribute to breaking the artificial barriers produced by politics, by the different ideologies, religions and racism that separates humanity.
