UPS-Cuenca Professors Hector Gonzalez Same and Jorge Luis Garcia took part in the First International Congress: National History and Reality: Society, Culture and Market Power which was held in the Mall del Rio Convention Center and organized by the Superintendence of Market Power Control (SCPM for its Spanish acronym).

Professor Hector Gonzalez and Jorge Luis Garcia were speakers at this event. Professor Gonzalez spoke about the "Challenges of Ecuadorian Universities upon a change in the country's production model" and also participated in a round table where the topic was History, Market and Academia. On the other hand, Professor Garcia presented the paper titled "Regulation and Control of Market Power, analysis of scientific production and its evolution since 1970" and was also part of a round table to discuss History, Research and Development. 

The aim of the congress was to give people information about the history and the evolution of market power in Ecuador as well as new regulations to improve this sector. 
Students who major in geography, sociology, political sciences, law, anthropology, social communication, economy, pedagogy, psychology, chemistry, medicine; and means of communication, professionals and overall public attended the congress.
