Universidad Politécnica Salesiana (UPS) strengthened its commitment to innovation and the transformation of higher education in Ecuador by taking part in the National Meeting of University Presidents: Innovation and Knowledge Transfer in Higher Education in Ecuador. This event brought together more than 30 university representatives in the country in order to develop strategies that strengthen research, networking and knowledge transfer with social impact.

Father Juan Cárdenas, UPS president, and the Head of Research, Esteban Inga, attended the event. In his speech, Father Juan Cárdenas stressed UPS's commitment to the education of innovative professionals, capable of providing concrete solutions to the needs of Ecuador: "Our mission is to educate young people with a humanistic approach, students who understand innovation not only as a technological advance, but as a tool for social transformation. The transfer of knowledge must generate a real impact on our communities and become an engine of development for the country."

Esteban Inga stressed the importance of university research transcending scientific publications and becoming solutions for society: "It is key to strengthen the mechanisms of technology transfer from academia to the productive sector. At UPS we promote the generation of patents, ventures and applied technologies that boost the economy and social well-being."

The meeting will conclude with a strategic document that will be presented to organizations such as SENESCYT and CES, so as to promote more innovative higher education with a tangible impact on society.
