UPS is continuously looking to improve the quality of its education and therefore on October 1st it began the self-assessment process of its undergraduate majors, based on its 2015 operational plan.

The benchmark for the evaluation process is based on the model used by the Evaluation, Accreditation, Quality Assurance in Higher Education Council (CEAACES, in Spanish) which considers the following aspects: continuation, curriculum, academia, institutional environment and students.

In order to successfully accomplish the self-evaluation process, the evaluation committee at UPS established phases for the process and according to the schedule by the end of this year they will have determined the strengths and weaknesses of every major at the university. Improvement plans will be published on January 2016.

German Parra, head of the Planning, Accreditation and Evaluation process at UPS, said "each faculty director and the committee are responsible for this process and they will be supported by the entire university community so that this process could be successful, considering that evaluation and accreditation is a duty as well as a right.
