UPS-Guayaquil will educate prisoners

Prisoners at the Social Rehabilitation Center attended a talk given by UPS professors about two of the university's majors. They will choose from one of these majors and start studying in the next few months.
They can choose from Accounting or Business Administration, this program is supported by the National Secretariat of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (SENESCYT for its abbreviation in Spanish) and the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.
Fabian Villacres, Wendy Luna and Luis Ortiz attended on behalf of UPS, as well as Senescyt representatives who told applicants that if they score over 600 points on the National Higher Education Exam, they will be eligible for getting scholarships.
In case a prisoner is set free during his studies, he can continue studying for free in the university premises.
Professor Villacres said both majors take nine semesters to accomplish and that when students become professionals they will be ready to work at any public or private company
