UPS-Cuenca Professor Blas Garzón Vera presented two papers during the II Latin American University Congress on Culture management, which was organized by Universidad de Piura and held in Lima, Peru. The Congress, which took place from the 1st to the 3rd of October, gathered Latin American researchers, professors and cultural managers who shared their research and experiences in the public and private sector. 

Professor Garzón presented his paper titled ""Proyecto de Vinculación con la Sociedad-Viernes Cultural Salesiano" on October 1st in the following category: New experiences in the value of heritage- cultural managers. The aim of the paper was to create spaces suitable enough to disseminate art and culture as well as revitalize traditional salesian art and encourage new talents. The achievements and challenges of during the five years of this project were also presented. 

On the following day Professor Garzon talked about "Diseño del Proyecto académico de postgrado-Maestría en Gestión Cultural y del Patrimonio". During this presentation professor Garzon talked about the methodologies that a group of UPS professors are using in order to design a master's program which will meet the needs to professionalize cultural managers in the country. This interdisciplinary program will develop competencies in solving problems regarding research, planning, development and management of culture and heritage. 

At the end of the congress, everyone agreed that there should be more meetings like these to analyze, reflect and present projects on this new profession called Cultural Management. In the Congress, UPS became a member of the Latin American Network of Cultural Management.
