UPS professors trained school teachers on inclusive education

From the 12th of July to the 5th of October, 60 professors attended a 160 hour course on Inclusive Education organized by the Fe y Alegria Organization. The professors were awarded approval certificates on October 26th.

The aim of the course was to train professors from EMAUS, Jose Maria Velaz and Santa Teresita schools on inclusive education. The methodology of the course was students attend part time and then visit the virtual learning environment planned for the course. The three modules were: inclusive community, eliminating barriers and the participation of students with disabilities. 

The course was taught by UPS professors Miriam Gallegos and Melva Yepez who discussed people's disabilities not only focusing on students, but in an integral manner. 
One of the topics of the course was also the universal design of learning so that professors can meet the needs of students and provide real inclusive education that is highly related to the policies, the culture and the practice of inclusion.

The certificates were awarded by Lola Vasquez, director of the community involvement department at UPS-Quito, Miriam Gallegos, director of the special education masters degree program, Patricio Velasco, director of postgraduate programs, and Jaime Sarmiento, head of projects of Fe y Alegria organization.
