UPS promotes Sports inclusion

The university's Information and Communication Technology Applied to Disabilities Research Group (TICAD, for its acronym in Spanish) (Grupo de Investigación en Tecnología de Información y Comunicación Asociadas a discapacidad (TICAD) and the FACIMAB Sporting Club with the support of the Ecuadorian Sports Federation for blind people (FEDEDIV, for its acronym in Spanish) organized a conference on Refereeing soccer games for blind people.

The aim is to encourage the inclusion of blind people in sports and education. "Blind people need specific instructions which are stated in the rule books and they represent an opportunity for sports", said Alice Naranjo, coordinator of TICAD.

The talks were given by Jairo Cuvero, coordinator at FEDEDIV, and Ernesto Aquinto, soccer coach, "These events are really important for UPS, since we plan on creating an inclusive institution by providing people with disabilities with the right facilities", said Victor Ernesto Estrada, the university's Sports coordinator on Guayaquil.
