Webinar on child vaccination

The early and basic education undergraduate programs in our branch campus in Guayaquil organized a webinar: “Child vaccination in times of Covid”. The aim of the webinar is that people understand the impact of covid 19 on children and the importance of vaccination for children under 10.
The speaker was Dr. Fernando Arroba Raymondi, who spoke about the importance of immunizing children. “Some parents decide not to vaccinate their children and this is a problem since it means the virus develops”, he stated.
Regarding the impact that Covid-19 has caused in children, he emphasized the need for vaccination in order to have social activities again. "We are robbing an entire generation of the opportunity to develop as social beings due to fear of disease, which is why it is important that vaccination is carried out, both for the physical health and for the social development of the child."
According to the Ecuadorian Ministry of Health, the percentage of children and adolescents fully vaccinated against Covid-19 is 53.69% and 71.16%, respectively. On the other hand, regarding the vaccination schedules for children 3 and 4 years old, Dr. Arroba said the process began this February, and stated that children between 5 and 11 years old must apply two dose of Sinovac within 28 days.
It should be noted that as of January 8, 2022, the vaccination card (two doses or complete schedule) is requested from infants from the age of 5, to access non-essential services and activities, such as children's and youth entertainment centers, theaters, cinemas, circuses, stadiums, shopping malls and others.
