Women in science

Our branch campus in Guayaquil held the event titled “Women in Science”, organized by LISTEAM project with the support of UNESCO chairs. Professors, students and professionals attended the event to learn more about the impact of women in research. 

 

During the event,  they discussed topics such as the challenges and advances faced by women in scientific areas, stressing the importance of closing gender gaps and how more and more women are leading several disciplines.


 
Karla Montaño, coordinator of the Salesian association project of the GASOL group, spoke about the importance of these events: "It allows us to reinforce knowledge and transmit it to others, in addition to improving soft skills, which are key competencies for future professionals."

 

UPS women researchers held a special exhibition to present their most notable projects and achievements. The university showed its commitment to gender equality in academia and scientific fields, creating inclusive events.


 
Aliz Pinto Aspiazu, student, said this event is an opportunity to inspire other young women: “My goal is to encourage other girls to participate in areas of scientific research, engineering and even technology.”


 
Martha Rodríguez, spoke about the importance of the role of women in science: “Every day women are standing out, they are shining. We encourage all our students to be part of research groups and contribute to social development.”


 
With initiatives like this, UPS continues to promote female leadership in science, encouraging more women to break barriers and leave their mark in the world of research.
