Technology and innovation in the 2018 Engineering week

Around 1000 high school students in Quito visited the university's "Sur" campus to attend the new edition of the 2018 Engineering Week, an academic event to present innovative technological projects.

"These events make us feel we are an excellent university, they provide the opportunity to build new learning strategies focused on students. We have a university that breaks stereotypes", said Jose Juncosa, vice president of the university's branch campus in Quito.

The event was organized by the students federation as well as studetns and professors from civil engineering, mechanic engineerin, electronics and automation, environmental engineering, computing, electricity, mechatronics, telecommmunications and automotive engineering. Deysi Chicaiza, representative of the students federation said that "engineering week is a week full of creativity, imagination, effort and preparation".

Carment Vasquez (Venezuela) gave a keynote speech with the topic: "Challenges for sustainable urban transport and mobility. A review of Latin America". Jorge Lopez presented the conference "Infrastructure and virtualization:Data Center of the computer engineering undergraduate program"

In the days of the event, the university received high students and showed them the latest technology projects and laboratories. It should be noted that a new Data Center was opened, an academic and technological space available to the university community. Patsy Prieto, director of the program, said that "this laboratory is built so that students take ownership of knowledge and approach the reality that exists today in the world and everything that refers to technological systems."

In the open house, projects related to the conservation of the environment, positioning and geolocation with drones, app with artificial intelligence, Eco Satation, Moshal, AgrScan, were presented. And the contests of structures; photographs on biodiversity, networking, databases, embedded systems and others.
