Students from our branch campus in Guayaquil who are majoring in mechatronics presented several prototypes and socio-environmental activities to improve sustainability and quality of life during the 6th projects fair titled "Classrooms of Knowledge" held in the Fundación Hogar de Cristo.

These activities are part of a community engagement project to develop the creativity of children and young people in programming and mechatronics.

During the fair, prototypes of scale houses were presented to show the lighting systems, air conditioning, doors, windows, blinds, garage and even irrigation system, all monitored and controlled from a mobile application. "We have been working with the Foundation since last year, now we have completed the second part of the project," said Jorge Fariño, director of the Mechatronics program.

Children and teenagers learned about: Introduction to home automation and Arduino; Digital and analog signals; Sensors with Arduino; Display 7 segments; Matrix keyboard; LCD display; Communications Arduino one, bluetooth and wifi.

"The connection we have with the university allows us to work in depth with new knowledge and implement them in sectors with sustainable development," said Ivonne Vázquez, representative of the Foundation.
