For the second consecutive year, professors Paulina Morillo and Diego Vallejo from the computer science undergraduate program in our branch campus in Quito won the funds from DIVULGA CEDIA. They presented their research at the 21st International Conference on Cooperative Design, Visualization, and Engineering - CDVE 2024", which took place in Spain.

CDVE 2024 is a highly relevant academic event that focuses on the development of technologies and applications related to collaborative work in virtual environments. Around 100 researchers from the USA, the United Kingdom, Italy, Norway, Belgium, Romania and China attended and presented about 40 research projects. It was an opportunity to exchange knowledge between experts from different disciplines, such as computer science, engineering, social sciences and information sciences.

Diego Vallejo presented his research titled "Facial Ethnicity Identification by Collaborative Voting System", which explores a collaborative system for ethnic identification based on facial photographs of Ecuador’s main ethnic groups. This study examines the difference between self-identification and external ethnic perception.

Paulina Morillo presented her research: "Implementing Similarity Matrices in a Web Interactive Tool for Scientific Articles Matching", which introduces an interactive web tool that uses similarities and processing techniques to identify correspondences between scientific articles.

Professors interacted with others from prestigious international universities such as the University of Manchester, the Polytechnic University of Bari and the University of Brussels. The research presented at CDVE 2024 will be published in the series "Lecture Notes in Computer Science (SJR-Q2)" by the Springer, indexed to Scopus.
