New Applied Mathematics Research Group at UPS

The UPS-Guayaquil higher education board has approved the creation of the new Applied Mathematics Research Group (GIIMA). The group is made up by UPS full time professors and undergraduate students, it will focus on responsible and ethical research. 

The aim of GIIMA is to study several scientific problems and find solutions by using mathematical methods. Its studies will focus on several areas of study, such as education and technology, control engineering, automation technologies, power optimization, renewable energies, technological innovation, artificial intelligence, and others. The problems the group will study are part of the country's "Good Life" policies and the new productions models. 

The group is made up by UPS professors Nadia Mercedes Mendieta Villalba, Tania Catalina Rojas Párraga, Laura Leonor Garcés Villón, Johanna Paola Founes Merchán, Ana Fabiola Terán Alvarado, Luis Daniel Caamaño Gordillo, and Julián Triana Dopico. Researchers from Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Spain, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and Institut Curie, París, France will also cooperate.
