On Wednesday June 3rd CIESPAL Quito held the talk "Communication, Education and Youth"; the speakers were German Muñoz Gonzalez from Universidad Distrital de Colombia, Monica Maruri from Universidad Espirity Santo de Guayaquil and Rene Unda Lara from UPS.

Young people were the main focus of every conversation which analyzed the relationship between communication and education. The speakers discussed the role schools face with younger generations in today's digital culture; the speakers debated this issue and gave several suggestions.  

During the event they also discussed the paradigm of educommunication, which UPS taught in its master's degree in education program between 1996 and 2002. Through its graduates, events and publications, UPS has helped create criticism and reflection in the study on the relationship between communication and education from the perspective of critical revision of media and messages. 

Rene Unda is the director of the Childhood, Adolescence and Youth Research Group at UPS and is the author of several books on this field.
